Below are some basic ideas to help you along the way. All shipping times are estimated and should not be considered as guarantees.

How does door-to-door car shipping service work?

Door-to-door service means the truck driver will get as close to your door as he can legally and safely. Many cities have restrictions on large trucks that prohibit them from driving into some residential areas. Auto moving trucks are massive and need lots of space to maneuver and turn around. If your home is restricted by narrow streets, low-hanging trees, speed bumps or tight turns, the driver may ask you to meet the truck at a different destination.

Who can I contact during my car shipping?

VLP Transport can provide you with a number that you can call and receive updates.

What about insurance coverage for auto moving?

The auto transport company will provide you with insurance. This insurance covers all damages caused by accidents while the vehicle is being loaded, major changes in the vehicle’s condition, and unforeseeable damage that is a result of mishandling by the carrier. There are limits to their coverage and you may want to ask them to give you details before you move your car.

What forms of payment are accepted?

Cash, cahier check, money orders, visa and master cards will be accepted. No personal checks and no business checks will be accepted. Payment must be arranged prior to pick up for vehicle transport.

Can customers leave personal items in the vehicle during auto transport?

The US Department of Transportation prohibits the carrying of personal items on a truck licensed only for carrying automobiles. By violating this federal law, VLP Transport can be fined up to $10,000. All personal belongings that are left inside the vehicle will not be insured and no company is responsible for missing or damaged items.

Will my car go to a terminal during auto moving?

It depends on the schedule for pickup and delivery. If the VLP Transport cannot pickup/deliver your vehicle(s) due to scheduling conflicts, inaccessible areas or both, they may use a terminal. All terminals used are secured, licensed, and fully insured. But you will be responsible for payment to the terminal before you receive your car.

Why does a truck (SUV) cost more than a regular vehicle to moving?

All shipments are based on weight and size. Because they take up more space, there may be a price difference for auto transport.

What paperwork do I need for auto moving?

In order to transport you vehicle you don’t need to provide any paperwork before vehicle transport. All that we ask from you is for a signature and a walk around your vehicle. During this walk you and the driver will inspect the vehicle for any pre-existing damages at pickup.

What should the customer do if the vehicle arrives with damage after car shipping?

Make sure that you let the driver know that the damage is new and was not noted on original bill of lading. All damages should be marked and noted clearly and your driver should sign off on them. The next step is to contact VLP Transport and let them know as soon as possible. Most transport companies have a time limit on damage, in some cases if you do not contact them within 24 hours, you may get denied coverage.

Do I need to be present during pickup and delivery?

Yes, we require you, or a designated person, to be present upon pick up of your vehicle. During pick up, a contract or “bill of landing” will need to be signed by you (or your agent) at the origination point. If unable to be there, please contact VLP prior to the pick up date to confirm an alternate contact person. However, after you place your order and you decided to change pickup, additional charges may apply. If you schedule a day for pick up and don’t show up your vehicle could be turned over to a towing company and you would have to deal with them to recover your car.

How far in advance should I schedule vehicle transport?

We recommend that you schedule your car transport as soon as you know the date you will need your vehicle. You need to know that the fastest delivery can be made one to three days, but can take up to fourteen days (coast to coast).
